Our Mission
To provide the horses of Southern Oregon and Northern California the highest
quality medical and surgical care and deliver exceptional client service.
Hospital Profile
Three Equine Veterinarians, one on call surgeon and six support staff provide 24 hour intensive
care in a 6000 square foot facility with surgical suite and 24 hour on farm services. A
separate Reproduction Facility provides stallion and mare services.
Staff Veterinarians
WILLIAM W. FERGUSON, DVM
Dr. Ferguson grew up on a farm in the
Tri-Cities area of Central Washington
and in a small
New England
town. Undergraduate studies were
done at
Yale University
,
Washington
State University, and the
University
of
Washington
. He received a bachelor of science
in zoology from W.S.U. in 1975, and his DVM. from W.S.U. in 1980.
Dr. Ferguson became certified in animal chiropractic by the American
Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2001.
Areas of professional interest include equine chiropractic, dentistry,
and lameness. Outside interests
include golf, travel, and raising horses with his wife, Birte on their farm in
Eagle Point.
THOMAS R. TIMMONS, DVM
Dr. Timmons is a native Oregonian, originated
in Pendleton area. Undergraduate
studies at

University) and

of Massassachussets,
Amherst
. Bachelor of Science from Eastern
Oregon
College
– 1987. Professional training at
Oregon State University
,
Washington
State University,
University

Idaho

Oregon

Washington
State University – combined program – 1991.
FEI Licensed Veterinarian – Endurance.
Specific areas of interest include lameness, reproduction, surgery and
medicine. Outside interests are fly
fishing, horse and back packing, warm water diving and travel .

MITCHELL K. BENSON, DVM

Dr.
Benson originated in
Durham
CA
. Undergraduate studies were
at Cal Poly, majoring in dairy science until 1976.
Dr. Benson’s Professional degree is from UC Davis, obtained in 1980.
He practiced in
Sonoma County
,
California
for 25 years until he moved to the
Rogue
Valley
in 2005. In March 2006, Dr. Benson
joined RVEH. Areas of interest in
practice include dentistry, reproduction and lameness.
Areas of personal interest include wilderness packing with horse and
mule.
TISH
CHISM, DVM
Dr Chism did her undergraduate work at Cal Poly
and graduated from veterinary school at
Oklahoma
State
. She completed an internship and
residency in large animal surgery at the
University
of
Tennessee
before entering private practice with Dr Charlie Bowles at Specifically Equine
in
Buelton
,
California
. From there she went to
Steinbeck
Country
Equine
Hospital
in
Salinas
,
California
. In both practices she provided
primarily soft tissue and emergency abdominal surgical services.
Dr. Chism provides surgical services at R.V.E.H.
